An open-world 80s prom experience could steep guests in teen nostalgia while seeding genuine horror, activating the Fear Street community and drawing in horror fans in LA and beyond.

THE EXPERIENCE

Guests arrived at the Fonda Theatre in their finest 80s prom attire, greeted by the Prom Committee and school mascot Wolfie. Inside, a gymnasium straight out of a John Hughes film: disco ball spinning, balloons overhead, high school iconography on every wall.

Class president Harper announced the prom queen candidates before sending guests out to explore. What followed was a free-roam experience layered with teen drama. Character tracks played out across the space, arcade games flashed in the corner, an 80s makeover station kept things fun. A DJ kept the dancefloor moving. Somewhere in the crowd, a red-hooded figure moved quietly between guests.

For those who ventured further, the horror rooms waited. Jump scares lurked behind locker doors, one concealing a dismembered prom queen. The girls’ bathroom was painted in blood. A library maze ended in a sprint from the killer. In the AV Club, poor Eugene had figured it all out, only to be beheaded in a haunting silhouetted projection.

Then the gymnasium called everyone back. A prom queen dance battle pulled the whole crowd in. Then the prom king’s body came crashing from the balcony. Queens were stabbed, hacked, and chased until a swinging axe hit the DJ booth. The killer dropped.

Silence. Then, written in blood: It’s not over. It’s never over.
