THE BRIEF
Activision Blizzard were launching Diablo IV and needed to make serious cultural noise at launch while tapping into the game’s dark, mythological aesthetic. The brief was to reach a generation of creators and tastemakers in a way that authentically connected the game to dark culture.
THE INSIGHT
Dark aesthetics had also moved into mainstream culture: gothic sensibility, occult imagery, and ritual experience were trending. The opportunity was to fuse franchise lore with that cultural moment and find a physical space that could hold both the sacred and the profane.

THE BIG IDEA
Sanctuary transformed a deconsecrated cathedral into the last safe outpost before hell consumed the world.

THE EXPERIENCE
The main nave was rebuilt as the Cathedral of Light. Sacred geometry subverted, gothic atmosphere charged, a space that felt both holy and corrupted.
Roaming characters delivered personalised ritual experiences, guiding each guest through a shamanic encounter to discover their animal familiar from Diablo IV lore, creating deeply personal, shareable content.
Guests could also sharpen their claws at a themed nail bar rooted in demonic iconography, designed to generate organic beauty-creator content.
The night climaxed with the arrival of Lilith herself, descending from the ceiling as the demonic goddess marked the group’s descent into hell.
A hooded figure then appeared and drove her back, removing his hood to reveal DJ Zedd, who played a late night set to raise the dead.
